care of our products

LEARN Our eco leather is alive; it changes colour with sunlight and ages gracefully with frequent use. Eco leather, or vegetable-tanned and coloured leather does not stay spotless and smooth, and no skin is the same. These properties and use create unique products, which carry precious memories literally on the skin.

Leather is a natural material and it is not recommended to let it get wet through and through. As we understand that it's hard to avoid an unexpected rain shower, we recommend treating your leather product with a water-repellent spray before first use (and then every 3-4 weeks as maintenance). E.g. 'Saphir's Super Invulner Spray' or 'Collonil 1909 Supreme Protect Spray' are products we recommend for this purpose.

If your product did get wet in the rain, do not use artificial heat to dry products. Just let it air-dry and keep it away from radiators or heaters. Direct heat will cause the leather to dry out. Is the leather unexpectedly dried out anyway? Then apply leather lotion to re-hydrate your product.

Condition your leather products every 8-12 weeks. Think of conditioner as a moisturiser for your leather. Leather will dry out over time and conditioner will preserve its moisture and suppleness. To reduce scratches and minor marks from daily use, we recommend moisturising the leather with a special nourishing cream that can be found at a cobbler's. E.g. 'Saphir Pate de Luxe wax', which is 100% natural and contains seven different types of wax, such as from animals, plants and minerals.

When using new leather care products, always test the product on an inconspicuous area on your dusq product before applying it to entire product.

Store your leather products in a dust bag when not in use, away from moisture and variations of heat or cold.

CANVASMade from recycled PET, our canvas is a sturdy but soft material.

The durable dye used in the recycled PET canvas for our bags and accessories can change when exposed to sunlight. This colour fading is a natural phenomenon and varies in different conditions of use.

To clean this material, we recommend dampening a soft cloth with possibly a little mild hand washing detergent (without bleach!) and gently rubbing the spot. Never rub too roughly to avoid damaging the material. Then let the material air-dry and repeat if necessary.

Dusq's shoes have a flexible sole that allows for the best possible first steps. The smallest sizes have a vegetable-tanned and coloured suede sole and the larger sizes have a sole made of recycled natural rubber. The shoes can be worn both indoors and outdoors. It is not recommended to wear the shoes outside in rain or to walk through water with them, the shoes are not waterproof!

Our sizes are a guideline, so we recommend measuring your child's foot to make sure you order the right size. On a flat surface, measure the foot from the heel to the tip of the big toe with a ruler or measuring tape.

Based on this, you can choose from the table below. We recommend always choosing 1 cm larger because children's feet need space and grow quickly. If you end up between 2 sizes, we advise you to choose one size bigger. For personal advice you can always send an e-mail to: info@dusq.nl, we will be happy to help you make your choice.
